How Agata began...

I lived in Ukraine in the early 90's and met some Georgians. I had no knowledge of their beautiful country nestled between Europe and Asia. Georgia is a breathtaking place made of high mountains hung with mist and rich fertile valleys that have experienced the full tumult of history. The people are warm and generous and know no strangers.

Mongols, Turks, Arabs, Khazars, Scythians and many more have galloped across their land. I wanted to write a story in this setting. Agata, Princess of Iberia came about as I was wondering how women survived the many invasions. Cowering behind walled cities or open villages, what did they do to protect themselves and the children they loved?
